Sigma Delta Omega Chapter 2019 Fall Event
Who: The Delta Omega Chapter invites you to Join the Conversation, sponsored by On the Table Greater Akron
When: Tuesday, October 1, 2019, 5:15-7 pm
Where: Spaghetti Warehouse, 510 S Main St, Akron OH 44311
Cost: $10 – this includes a meal selection from the Red or White Trolley Line menu that you order the night of the event. The Chapter will contribute toward the remaining cost

What: Last fall during On the Table Greater Akron thousands of community members, including the Delta Omega Chapter, came together at mealtime conversations to discuss potential solutions to the biggest issues facing our community. At that event, Delta Omega addressed the topic of Drugs and Addiction impacting our community
Why: In 2019 Delta Omega will address Our Aging Seniors in our community, identified as a priority issue by Greater Akron. Data shows:
- 23% of Summit County is made of residents 60 and older, by 2030 that number will rise to over 30%
- An estimated 9,000 seniors (5.9%) fall below the federal poverty level
- More than half the senior households in Akron are individuals living alone, compared to 41% in the suburbs
- Suggested Discussion Points: Aging at home, Community awareness of resources, Accessibility, Transportation, Spiritual support, Social isolation, Community engagement, Safety and Security, Caregiving, Health care affordability
- We are all getting older and as health care providers we can make a difference!
The Delta Omega Chapter has received Gold key Award recognition in part for their community involvement and their participation in Sigma Founder’s Day event.
The Chapter will be collecting toothbrushes and toothpaste for Akron’s seniors.
